Green Mountain Care Board Restricts NVRH Budget Increase By Almost Half

Caledonian Record

The Green Mountain Care Board denied nearly half of the increase sought by Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in its budget proposal.

The hospital submitted a budget reflecting a 15 percent increase, but the board limited the increase to 8 percent.

“What that means for us is it reduces our net patient revenue growth by about $3.2 million,” said NVRH CEO Shawn Tester.

Hospital officials now must develop a revised budget that’s about $120 million.

“We’ll bring it to our own board at our October board meeting for review and approval, and then we’ll resubmit it to the Green Mountain Care Board,” said Tester.

It won’t be easy to reduce the budget by over three million dollars, he said.
