Legislative Update

Devon Green,

VP Government Relations

… and, we’re back! Things were quiet last week without legislators in town, but this week will be a flurry of activity as committees try to make Friday’s crossover deadline. At crossover, all bills that are not money bills or bills sponsored by the entire committee must be passed out of their committees of jurisdiction. If they do not pass, they “stay on the wall”—which is not just a figure of speech—there are little cards with bill numbers tacked on the wall in the committee rooms. Nothing is final in the first year of a biennium, though, and anything that doesn’t make it by crossover could sneak into other bills or come back next year.

Below are the issues we are tracking. We’ll have an update on what has made the cut next week!
