Chainsaw-weilding man injures staff, destroys property at St. Johnsbury hospital

Police say an assault at a Vermont hospital injured medical workers and a Vermont state trooper.

Vermont State Police say it happened on March 25 at 5 p.m. at the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury.

Troopers responded to a report that a man was destroying property, assaulting staff and wielding a chainsaw. When troopers arrived, they say they found the man later identified as Tyler Roy, 27, of Hardwick, actively assaulting staff members in the parking lot.

Roy was arrested and evaluated at NVRH. He is due in court on May 6.
