VT health care key players at odds over legislation

NBC5

Key players in Vermont's health care system are at odds over new proposed legislation. It would create sweeping changes to how health care is handled and regulated.

The bill changes certain duties for the Green Mountain Care Board and adds the Agency of Human Services to the mix. For some, this is concerning because the GMCB was created to look out for consumers and keep hospital spending in check. "It would weigh down some of the regulatory power the Green Mountain Care Board has, and we think that would be bad for consumers, we think that would lead to more out-of-control spending," said Mike Fisher, the chief healthcare advocate at VT Legal Aid.
