Rutland Regional Medical Center expands mental health services outside ER

More and more health care facilities across Vermont are putting a bigger focus on mental health care accessibility. At both the Rutland Regional Medical Center and Community Care Network - Rutland Mental Health Services, officials are working to divert mental health-related visits away from the emergency department while still getting patients the care they need.

For a year, Rutland Mental Health has had a text line active. Rutland residents have been texting 802-214-2553 to get mental health support and care.

“Statewide, we’re moving much more toward trying to meet people where they’re at in the community, I keep them in the community as much as we can,” said Loree Zeif of Rutland Mental Health Services.
