UVM Health Network email 'disappointing and inconsistent with that responsibility'

The email was signed by Dr. Sunny Eappen, president and chief executive officer of the UVM Health Network; Anna Noonan, president and chief operating officer of Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin; Bob Ortmyer, president of Porter Medical Center in Middlebury; and Dr. Stephen Leffler, president and chief operating officer of UVM Medical Center in Burlington.

In an interview with the Burlington Free Press on Thursday, Green Mountain Care Board Chair Owen Foster responded to the email, saying, "Vermonters are looking to UVMMC for leadership at this critical time to help us improve our healthcare system. Their statement and approach is disappointing and inconsistent with that responsibility. The statement is also misleading and GMCB's opinions will explain our rationale and where there are opportunities for UVMMC to better support Vermonters and our healthcare system. The GMCB and all Vermonters will continue to support our flagship academic medical center as it addresses these opportunities."
