Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) held a ribbon cutting celebration on Thursday to mark completion of the three-year renovation and construction project of the Kendall Emergency Department.
Also part of the project are the Stout Thomson Waiting Area and Outpatient Registration, the Richard and Pamela Ader Foundation Lobby, and the Marro Café. These completed projects are components of the VISION 2020, A Decade of Transformation, capital campaign.
The $31 million project was primarily funded through philanthropic giving, and donors were present Thursday and took part in the ribbon cutting.
"Thanks to all of you for being here to celebrate. It's taken a long time to get here. As you know, COVID threw our construction timeline for a loop, but we're finally here," said Kathleen Fisher, chair of the SVMC Board of Directors. "We finally have the emergency department facilities that our patients and our providers deserve."
On hand were U.S. Sen. Peter Welch, D-Vermont; Joanne M. Conroy, MD, CEO & President of Dartmouth Health; and Thomas A. Dee, SVMC President & CEO.
