Ruckus At NVRH Results In Charge Of Assault On Law Enforcement

Caledonian Record

A local man was cited into court August 28, the result of an altercation that began at 10:34 p.m. July 8 at the Star Theatre on Eastern Avenue, continued at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital and concluded early July 9 with the arrest of Michael Carpenter, 60, on a charge of assault on law enforcement.

St. Johnsbury Police Officer Davis Guyer went to the theatre July 8 to deal with Carpenter who the officer reported “was under the influence of alcohol and had no place to go.” Officer Guyer took Carpenter into “protective custody.”

He was first taken to the hospital but then was told he was going to detox at the Northeast Correctional Center. At that point, “Carpenter jumped out of his bed and approached the nurse aggressively. I grabbed onto Carpenter and he kicked me in the leg,” Guyer stated.

Carpenter is cited to appear for arraignment in Caledonia Superior Court.
