Montpelier, VT – The Vermont Association of Hospitals and Health Systems (VAHHS) today announced Michael Del Trecco will serve as the advocacy organization’s next president and CEO following a thorough national search. Del Trecco most recently served the organization as interim president and CEO and prior to that was senior vice president of finance and operations. Del Trecco has been with the organization for 18 years and has an extensive background in health care finance, public policy and hospital operations.
“This is a crucial time for our hospitals, and we highly value Mike’s experience, integrity and the respect he has rightfully earned from health care and policy leaders across Vermont,” shared Claudio Fort, President and CEO of Rutland Regional Medical Center and Chair of the VAHHS Board. “We are pleased to welcome Mike as our next leader.”
As interim President and CEO, Del Trecco strengthened relationships with Vermont’s Agency of Human Services, health care stakeholders and other policy leaders who are working to stabilize the health care system amid the COVID-19 pandemic, a worsening workforce shortage and ongoing mental health and long-term care crises.
“This is an incredible honor, and I am humbled by the trust and confidence our hospital leaders have placed in me,” said Del Trecco. “We have been hard at work finding solutions to the most difficult issues our health care system has faced in modern history. As a system of community-based and community-led hospitals, we exist solely to serve those who need our care. We know the work ahead will be difficult, but we are focused and committed to making progress.”
Del Trecco has a bachelor’s degree in finance and insurance from Northeastern University and a master’s in business administration from Norwich University. He is a resident of Essex, where he lives with his wife and two children. He served as a board member for Vermont Information Technology Leaders and Vermont Program for Quality in Health Care and currently serves on the board for Spectrum Youth and Family Services.
