Executive Order on Immigration
The Vermont Association of Hospitals and Health Systems expressed concern about President Trump’s recent executive order on immigration and the negative effect it could have on health care delivery in Vermont.
Jeff Tieman, VAHHS President and CEO, issued the following statement: Vermont’s network of hospitals and health systems are deeply rooted in the communities they serve. Hospitals rely on diverse workforces from around the world to provide the excellent health care that our patients and their families have come to expect. Vermont hospitals are proud to treat and employ people who represent the broad diversity that makes our communities so strong and vibrant. The controversial executive order on immigration does not represent us as an organization, nor is it who we are as Vermonters. VAHHS is committed to supporting our hospitals and their staffs to offer anyone turning to us in a time of need the care they require and deserve.
